Preakness Post Time 2018 Speed record:
1 3⁄16 miles (1.91 km) - 1:53 - Secretariat (1973)
Secretariat, the 1973 winner, and ultimately a Triple Crown winner, was originally credited with a running time of 1:55. Two Daily Racing Form clockers, however, timed Secretariat's Preakness in 1:53 2/5, a new stakes record. A hearing was held over the time discrepancy, where a video replay proved Secretariat reached the wire before Canonero II, the then-current record holder. But instead of giving Secretariat the record, the Maryland Jockey Club decided to split the difference and make its official time that of Pimlico's clocker, who timed the race in 1:54 2/5. The matter was finally resolved in a June 2012 meeting of the Maryland Racing Commission, which unanimously ruled to change Secretariat's final time to 1:53 based on testimony and analysis of the race replays.[24] Consequently, Secretariat holds the current official record for all three races required to win the Triple Crown.

Triple Crown Winners 2018
Triple Crown Winners 2018. On an idyllic Saturday evening at Belmont Park, American Pharoah made it worth the 37-year wait. Under a perfectly calculated ride by Victor Espinoza, the son of Pioneerof the Nile led the field from start to finish in the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes, drawing away in the stretch to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978 and end a drought that had seen the hopes of 13 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winners end in disappointment.
The milestone victory in the 148th 'Test of the Champion' was sweet redemption for the colt's connections, Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert and Espinoza, as the pair had accumulated five failed Triple Crown bids between them.
The Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, often shortened to Triple Crown, comprises three races for three-year-old Thoroughbred horses. Winning all three of these Thoroughbred horse races is considered a Thoroughbred racehorse's greatest accomplishment. The term originated in mid-19th century England and different nations where thoroughbred racing is popular each have their own Triple Crown series.

Preakness Odds
Preakness Odds 2018. Gamblers have made American Pharoah just a bit less of a favorite as the morning line suggested. As of 4 p.m., he's a 1-1 pick, a tad longer than the 4-5 odds makers installed him at after the post position draw.
Entering Saturday's second Triple Crown leg, Firing Line is 5-2, the second choice over 9-2 Dortmund, whose price dropped from 9-1 in a matter of hours. We'll update odds here throughout Saturday, though the numbers have mostly stabilized two hours out from post time.
